Joy Katz, President of the JCC Board of Directors
Joy Katz has been a JCC member for the past 20 years. She has been involved at the J since her children started to attend the JCC Sara Walker Nursery School. She and her husband, Larry, have three children, Aaron, Rachel and Hannah, and they all attended the nursery school and the JCC summer programs.
Joy served one term on the Board of Directors in 2000, and worked on numerous events and committees over the years including, chairing Hangtime for the 2006 Stamford JCC Maccabi Games, hosting an Israeli soldier and co-chairing Tzahal Shalom.
Joy rejoined the Board of Directors in 2009. She has worked on the JCC Jewish Arts and Film Festival, community Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations, chaired Jewish Programming for the 2016 Stamford JCC Maccabi Games and Artsfest, and attended JCCA Biennial conferences in San Diego, Baltimore and Memphis. She chaired the Executive Search Committee in 2017 and most recently has been on the Strategic Planning and Building committees. She also serves on the Finance, Investment and Nominating Committees.
Joy was a recipient of the JCCA Esther Leah Ritz Emerging Leader Award, and in recognition of Joy’s service to the community, she received the Hyacinthe & Harold Hoffman Humanitarian Award in 2014.
A graduate of Cornell University, with a JD and LLM from New York University School of Law, Joy works part-time for herself as a Trusts and Estates attorney. She also has begun to teach English as a second language to adults through the Stamford Public Schools. She enjoys yoga, tennis, gardening, needlepointing and knitting.
Joy and her family currently reside in Stamford and are members of Temple Beth El of Stamford.
