Office Manager

The Jewish Community Center of Stamford (CT) is searching for an experienced, reliable and task-oriented Office Manager. The Office Manager will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with senior management and program directors. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, professional and able to work independently; has strong written and oral communication skills; is able to manage communications and coordinate with department heads as well as board members, lay leaders and professional contacts; has the ability to exercise good judgement and balance priorities.

Essential functions:

  • - Manage the CEO’s day-to-day administrative needs
  • - Manage board calendar and support board president as needed
  • - Provide administrative and clerical support to the senior management team and program directors
  • - Provide Financial Resources Development administration
  • - Assist with membership data entry
  • - Handle communications with board of directors and lay leadership
  • - Handle board and staff meeting set-up and arrangements
  • - Attend board meetings and staff meetings, take minutes, and ensure timely follow-up
  • - Provide logistical assistance for special events
  • - Manage fundraising acknowledgement letters, etc.
  • - Manage workflow and communications from senior management team, lay leaders, program directors and administrative staff
  • - Provide regular reporting (historical and forward looking) to the CEO and the board, including but not limited to the status of prioritized activities
  • - Perform related work as required or assigned
  • - Take on additional duties and special projects as required or assigned

Qualifications, skills and abilities:

  • - Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant reporting directly to senior management
  • - BA/BS preferred
  • - Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • - Database expertise (experience in eFinesstri a plus)
  • - Strong aptitude in learning new programs and software
  • - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with solid multi-tasking abilities
  • - Friendly and professional demeanor
  • - Previous experience in a non-profit or Jewish Communal field preferred but not required.

 Director of Aquatics

The Jewish Community Center of Stamford (CT) is searching for a Director of Aquatics who will be directly responsible for all programmatic content in the aquatics area, including, but not limited to, group swim lessons, private swim lessons, adult/teen aqua exercise classes, swim clinics, and swim team (in conjunction with fitness and sports departments). The director serves as the lead professional for all aquatics programming for members, users and guests of all ages.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and updating programming in accordance with the changing needs of various constituencies and evolving trends in the field
- Monitoring programs on a regular basis to maximize value to customers, balanced with the need for appropriate fiscal integrity and customer service quality assurance
- Creating and monitoring annual department budget
- Developing curricula and overseeing swim programs for early childhood and preschool programs
- Communicating regularly with parents as to progress of students
- Running summer swim program as part of centers on-site summer day camp
- Hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising all aquatics instructors and lifeguards
- Running all children’s instructional programming for ages 3 and up in accordance with the American Red Cross standards and guidelines
- Monitoring and interacting with instructors, class teachers and students on a regular basis

Minimum Qualifications:
- American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Lifeguard Instructor Certification (LGI)
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; must have strong computer skills. 

Position reports to Managing Director, Sports, Fitness & Aquatics

Personal Trainers

The Jewish Community of Stamford (JCC) is looking for nationally certified personal trainers to be a part of our growing Fitness Center staff.  

Personal trainers at the JCC work to bring their own unique energy and enthusiasm to each and every person they come in contact with, and to create a friendly and warm atmosphere where teamwork and communication are cornerstones in achieving excellence in customer service.

This position also includes Fitness Center staffing (where we utilize informal conversations to get to know each and every person by name), providing towel service and engaging people to create a unique and personal touch for everyone who uses the Fitness Center.

Principle Responsibilities:
- Conduct new and current member orientations and follow-up meetings
- Provide guidance and motivation to members and guests
- Develop, promote and conduct programs in the fitness center
- Recruit clients and build individual client base
- Staffing fitness center is required
- Have the ability to design and execute individual and small group exercise fitness programs, tailored to the needs and attainable goals of the individual, apparently healthy client, in a safe and effective way
- Have understanding for the need and importance of screening and client assessment; proficiency in conducting these evaluations initially and progressively
- A desire to help clients reach their health and fitness goals through appropriate cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance exercise
- An ability to motivate others in an encouraging and uplifting way towards improving their overall fitness and health
- A dedication to maintaining personal integrity, client confidentiality and professional standards for best practice
- A dedication to self-improvement, self-awareness, continuous learning, personal growth and development with regard to personal health, fitness and mental capacity

  • Certifications:
    All fitness professionals must maintain current, nationally recognized personal training certifications (NASM, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, etc.) or have an equivalent degree from an accredited university. Personal trainers are expected to keep current with fitness trends, science, techniques, tools and programs, and to continue to offer the industry standard in fitness expertise. 

Experience is a plus, but not essential. Compensation based on experience and credentials.
