We are United in Support of Israel

Since last week, Hamas rocket attacks on Gaza have escalated and, for the first time in decades, rockets have hit the outskirts of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In this time of crisis, as always, the North American Jewish Community joins hand and heart with the people of Israel. They are our brothers and sisters. Our support is unshakable. We are one people, sharing one history and one destiny.

The values of our people – commitment to democracy, respect for human rights, belief in the sanctity of human life, and the pursuit of justice and peace – will always be honored. We are united in support of Israel.

What you can do

Contact your elected officials

• Contact your elected officials and thank them for their recent bipartisan resolution, “Expressing vigorous support and unwavering commitment to the welfare, security, and survival of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state with secure borders, and recognizing and strongly supporting its right to act in self-defense to protect its citizens against acts of terrorism.”

Sample letter: (copy and paste this letter into the websites listed below)
I/we am/are calling/writing the Senator/Congressman to thank him for his support of the bipartisan resolution at the end of last week supporting Israel's right to self-defense.

Through these resolutions, Congress has sent a unified message of solidarity between the people of the U.S. and the people of Israel in their struggle against Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel's citizens.

Give to the Israel Terror Relief Fund
The Jewish Federations of North America has set up a Israel Terror Relief Fund. The Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and World ORT, along with the Israel Trauma Coalition, are delivering immediate services and assistance on the ground throughout the south. Such services include trauma counseling, financial assistance, portable bomb shelters, and potentially other initiatives including bringing children in the strike zones out of harm's way. Visit the United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan and Dairen website at www.ujf.org to see how needs are being addressed, and to donate today.

Zeva Adom (Red Color)
No one should have to live under the threat of constant rocket fire, but for the residents of southern Israel, Zeva Adom (Red Color) is an air raid siren that alerts the residents of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Be'er Sheva, Sderot and other southern Israeli cities that they have just seconds to find a bomb shelter. To show your solidarity with the people of Israel, send a photo of yourself wearing red to AUJS at www.facebook.com/AUJSfb.

Also, special pins will be on sale at the welcome desk of the JCC, 100% of proceeds from which will go directly to the Israel Terror Relief Fund.
