Outdoor Playing Fields
A well-maintained football, soccer and softball field is open to JCC members.

Gymnasium
Our full-size urethane-surfaced gymnasium is open for play and classes. Members enjoy basketball, floor hockey, and many other sports. See the monthly gymnasium schedule for open gym and reserved program time schedules.

Fitness Center
JCC members can stay healthy and fit by exercise in the Julius B. Kuriansky Fitness Center. The spacious fitness center features lots of natural light, and is fully staffed at all times by professionals. All members are encouraged to sign up for a complimentary orientation to the fitness center. From there, members can exercise individually or, for an additional fee, be coached through a customized fitness program with a certified personal trainer. Workout towels are provided free of charge. See additional information on the following pages for specific classes, events and program offerings.

Group Cycling / Exercise Studio
This studio includes a state-of-the-art audio system, rubber flooring and adjustable lights. Indoor cycling bikes, stability balls, dumbbells, mini trampolines and body bars help you round out your workouts.

Jogging & Walking Track
Enjoy walking and jogging on this suspended track specifically designed for both activities. While counting the laps (18 to the mile), members have a great view of the gym.

Racquetball
Choose from two racquetball courts. Reservations are accepted up to a week in advance. Reservations may be made in person or by calling the JCC reception desk at 322-7900.

Multi Sport Court
The JCC's new Mulit-Sport Court lets you play almost every sport imaginable, including basketball, volleyball, roller hockey and tennis. The multi-court surface is maintenance free and designed with interlocking joints that provide just enough give to actually help reduce injuries to athletes.

You can reserve the Sport Court up to 72 hours in advance, in person or by calling the JCC Front Desk at 203-322-7900.

Aquatic Fitness and Swim Classes
The JCC offers dozens of wonderful instructional and recreational swim programs for adults. For a complete listing of classes, individual and group instruction.

Group Exercise & Dance Studio
Group Exercise and dance classes take place in our spacious studio featuring large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Mirrored walls, a supported oak floor and a state-of-the-art audio system keep you safe while teachers use stability balls, dumbbells, body bars, steps, and other equipment to offer a variety of exercise class formats for all interests and ability levels. Locker Rooms
Locker rooms are available for men and women. Facilities are open to all JCC members. Our Family Changing Room is designed to allow parents with oppositesex children a private area to change and shower while maximizing member comfort. Parents with same-sex children should use the appropriate locker rooms. The locker rooms are adjacent to the pool, and have entrances by the fitness reception desk and the pool deck. Lockers are for daily use. Long-term rentals are available. Call the Fitness Office at 487-0984 for more information.

Executive Locker Rooms (XLR)
For an additional fee, enjoy the use of our spacious Executive Locker Rooms for men and women. Amenities include individual, assigned lockers, saunas and steam rooms, private lounges with satellite TV and a spacious co-ed lounge. Hair dryers, towel and laundry service, and complimentary toiletries are provided. Most group exercise and aquatics classes are free to XLR members. Sunday brunch is served from October to April. The Executive Locker Rooms are exclusively for adults. Persons under 18 years of age are not permitted. $475 individuals; $650 couples.

Member Check-In
Upon arrival in the fitness area, members are welcomed by a receptionist during peak hours. A photo ID system helps maintain a secure environment.


Babysitting
Babysitting is available from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cost is $6 per hour. Babysitting services are provided at the JCC through an independent contractor. All questions, as well as financial, scheduling and service arrangements, should be addressed directly with Deborah Gutierrez. Contact her at 322-7900.


Julius B. Kuriansky Fitness Center

The JCC Fitness Center features a Cardio Theater system for our Treadmills, Arc-trainers,
X-trainers, Stairmasters, Recumbent bikes and Upright bikes. Just plug your headphones and choose from 8 video or 3 audio channels. Each treadmill has its own 7" video monitor, while other cardio pieces share a bank of 8 42" TVs. We also have a Concept II Rower, Arm Ergometer, and Schwinn Cycle. We have a full circuit of Selectorized Strength Equipment, Gravitron, Smith Press, Squat Rack, Olympic Bench Press, Adjustable Benches, Dumbbells ranging from 3 - 100 lbs., and fixed straight and curl bars ranging from 20 - 110 lbs. To round out your workout we have Stretching Mats, Medicine Balls, Ankle Weights, Jump Ropes, Stretching Straps, Foam Rolls, Thera-Bands, Physio Balls, Bosu Balls and Balance Trainers.

Expresso Upright Bikes
Expresso Upright bikes are the first commercial quality stationary cycles to fuse entertainment with web-based personalization, Select from over 30 basic- to extreme-rated interactive tours, from the California coast to the mountains of Peru. Race yourself, race your friends, and even play video-style games while you exercise. Track and save your workouts, and compete in online rides and races.

Orientations
Members receive a complimentary four part orientation to the fitness center, by appointment with our fitness staff. During part one, a staff will get you exercising comfortable and effectively on one or more pieces of cardio equipment while also introducing you to the fitness center rules and etiquette. Part two is where we design a strength training routine for you. The staff will leave you with a written routine including machine settings, weights, and reps. The third meeting introduces you to our group fitness offerings, and session four is a 30-minute personal training session. Call the fitness center at 487-0981 to make your appointments. The Fitness Center is open to JCC members 14 years and older. Until the age of 16, teens are limited to off-peak times. Please see staff member for further information.

Personal Training
The JCC has a team of certified trainers who will tailor and design a fitness program just for you. Training programs may include muscle toning, muscular endurance, muscle building, cardiovascular endurance, power, agility, functional fitness, sports performance, etc. Your trainer has the knowledge and experience to design a program suitable for your goals and needs. Sessions are by appointment only. Choose from private 30-minute and 60-minute lessons, semi-private 60-minute sessions, or small groups of 3-4 with like goals and interests. Due to insurance regulations members may not bring their own personal trainers or instructors to the Fitness Center.


Group Fitness Classes

The JCC offers Group Fitness Classes for all ages and all fitness levels. We have classes ranging from gentle Senior Chair exercises to intense group strength training programs like Les Mills BODYPUMPTM and BODYVIVETM.

All instructors are certified by a nationally recognized organization. You will usually find 50 or more ongoing weekly class offerings, such as Water Wake Up in the pool, Yoga, Pilates, Group Cycling, Boot Camp, Rebounding, Interval Classes, Body Sculpting, Hi/Low Aerobics and more. Plus, there are a variety of youth fitness classes offered each semester.

Les Mills BODYPUMPTM & BODYVIVETM These world-class group fitness programs are FREE to JCC members! BODYPU MP is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. BODYVIVE is a 55-minute class that inspires you to get greater results from your workout by combining low-impact aerobic movement with intervals of strength and stability exercises that activate and empower your body. Fitness Assessments
Interested in having a better understanding of your fitness level? At the JCC we offer members and non-members a comprehensive evaluation that includes sub-max aerobic capacity testing, flexibility, body composition, blood pressure, and muscular strength and endurance testing. From the results of these standardized tests, we can design exercise programs that focus on improving variables of health and well being. These tests can be repeated from time to time to chart ones progress and improvements in the various elements of health and fitness.

Private Fitness Classes
If you don't see a class that fits your needs, create your own private class. For groups of five or more, these classes can be tailored to your group's schedules, goals and interests. Choose from most disciplines including yoga, pilates, boot camp, group cycling, sportspecific training, athletic training, and more. As long as we have an instructor qualified to teach a particular discipline, we can arrange a class for you.
