High School Fitness Classes

Teens can participate in most adult group fitness classes (group fitness introduction must be completed). Ages: 14 years and older for BODYVIVE, Rebounding and Step, 16 years and older for BODYPUMP, Group Cycling and most additional classes. Check the monthly group fitness class schedule, available at the front desk and online.

 

Please note: The JCC's Fitness Center is open to members 14 years and older. Until the age of 16, teens are limited to off-peak hours. Please see the fitness center staff for further information, or to schedule your complimentary exercise orientation.

NEW! Guitar with Shane
Ages 8 - 11 / Ages 12 - 15
Learn chords, scales, theory and best of all learn to play your favorite songs! Guitars will be provided for all students to use during their lessons. Students who have guitars are encouraged to bring their own.

NEW! Teen Circuit Training
Ages 11 - 14
A well-rounded, educational exercise program for teens. Each week will include exercises that involve strength, cardio, core, balance, and flexibility set up in a circuit for a maximum workout. Minimum of 6 needed to run the class.

Ages 13 and up
Let’s ride! This 45 minute class will include indoor cycling on the spin bikes, as well as core exercises and flexibility training.

NEW! Teen PT
Ages 13 and up
In small groups of 2 or 3, teens will meet with a personal trainer in the Fitness Center and go through a 45-minute total body workout. Offered in 6-week sessions, meeting 2 times a week.

NEW! Sports with Mo and Kelly
Ages 11 - 14
Mo and Kelly will lead this class through a different sport every week on a 5-week schedule. Sports will include soccer, basketball, baseball, kickball, floor hockey, and many others. Sessions will be held in the gym or outside if weather permits.

NEW! Ropes Course Adventures
Grades 6 - 8 / Grades 9 - 12
Join us for some fun and exciting activities out on our new low ropes course! Using cables and ropes strung among poles, groups will explore risk taking, leadership and communication. Ropes Course Adventures also highlights problem-solving, coaching and collaboration. Minimum 4 participants required.

Join us and play 18 holes on our new mini-golf course. Each week every player will have a checklist of challenges they must complete on every hole.  Compete against your friends to take home the title of Mini-Golf Madness Champion!

1-on-1 Basketball with Mo
Work with Coach Mo 1-on-1 or in small groups to learn basketball fundamentals and skills that will improve your game. Please schedule an appointment with Mo Concepcion at 203-487-0971 before registering.

Fitness Center Certification Course
Age 13 only
Lead by Kelly Russo, this 90 minute class is offered to all 13-year-olds who would like to be able to use the JCC Fitness Center on their own. Etiquette, proper equipment usage, form, safety and training guidelines will be covered. After completion of this class teens will have unlimited access to the Fitness Center. Free of charge to all members.
Offered first Sunday of every month from 2 - 3:30 p.m., or first Thursday of every month from 5 - 6:30 p.m.

2011 JCC Maccabi Games
August 14 – 19, 2011
13 – 16 years
Team Stamford will be traveling either to Philadelphia, PA, Springfield, MA, or Israel in 2011 to compete in the JCC Maccabi Games. We will join thousands of Jewish teens from the US and around the world for a week of sports competition and fun. There are a variety of sports available for you to compete in (boys and girl’s basketball, soccer, baseball, dance, tennis, swimming, bowling, golf and more).
The JCC Maccabi Games is an Olympic-style event that provides a unique combination of sports, cultural and social activities for Jewish teens. The JCC Maccabi Experience integrates sports with Jewish identity and values to give kids a transforming and powerful week of competition, social action and fun!
