NEW! Intro to Programming with Scratch®
Grades 6 – 8
Scratch® is a programming language that was invented by MIT. Through the creation of interactive stories, animations and games, students will develop a foundation of programming concepts (such as variables, loops, conditional statements, event handling and more) that will prepare them for higher level programming language. This is a fun way to be introduced to programming.

Chess Club
Grade 6
Learn chess and practice your game under the guidance of a chess master. This class is for both beginners and those who would like to learn more. Students placed by ability.

Junior Boxing Club
Ages 11 & up
Evander Holyfield began his boxing training when he was 8 years old and weighed 65 pounds. He went on to become an Olympic medalist and four-time world heavyweight champion. Your child may not become a heavyweight champion, but he or she can reap several benefits from the sport of boxing. Boxing will teach your child how to throw punches, including the jab, cross, hook and uppercut. Correct body mechanics needed to throw these techniques with the most speed and power will also be taught. Boxing offers children several psychological benefits, including improved confidence, self-discipline and determination.

Teen Fit
Ages 13 – 16
You keep your skin clean. You condition your hair. You’re eating right. You’re doing all you can to look and feel great. But are you missing out on an important part of a healthier lifestyle? No matter what your age or shape, you should exercise daily. Not only does exercise tone your body so you can wear your favorite jeans, it strengthens your muscles, keeps your bones strong, and improves your skin. And there are more benefits of exercise – increased relaxation, better sleep and mood, strong immune function, and more. This class will make you stronger, faster, and more powerful, and make you feel better, by performing high-energy functional movements that are natural and safe.

Fitness Center Certification Course
This class is for all 13-year-olds who would like to use the JCC Fitness Center on their own. Etiquette, proper equipment usage, form, safety, and training guidelines will be covered. After completion of this class, teens will have unlimited access to the Fitness Center during non-peak hours. Swim Assessment for New Swimmers 

For all children enrolling in a swim program for the first time, we strongly encourage you to bring your child for a free assessment. Our instructors will be able to advise you on the best class for your child based on his or her age and ability. Swim Refund Policy
Due to high demand and limited spots for swim lessons, the JCC refund policy will be strictly enforced. Refunds, credits or make-up classes for unscheduled absences cannot be accommodated. For absences due to serious illness/injury (doctor’s note required) or absences known at least one week in advance, we will make every effort to schedule make-up classes. Placement in make-up classes is based on the schedule of comparable classes and their availability.

Swim Cap Policy

Everyone entering the pool must wear a swim cap. This rule applies to males & females of all ages who have hair, no matter how long.

Pre-Swim-Team Program

Level 2
6 – 16 years
Learn competition-style swimming to become faster and more efficient in strokes and turns. Testing is required for children new to the program. Children who are enrolled two days a week may
qualify for Sunday sessions at no extra charge.

Two days per week is mandatory. Based on your child’s ability, he or she may be able to join the senior team and travel to swim competitions. A third practice for pre-team will be held on Sundays at 3 p.m. Please note: a private lesson, group class or Sunday practice can be used for the mandatory second practice.

JCC Stingrays Competitive Swim Team
IS AN OFFICIAL USA SWIM CLUB!
The JCC competes in the USA Swimming League. Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 6 p.m. and optional practice on Saturday. Children must try out for the team, and must have the following prerequisites:

• Level 4 – Barracuda (stroke development)
• Pre-Swim Team Classes*

JCC Stingrays Junior Competitive Swim Team is for those swimmers who want to begin participating on a swim team, but are not quite ready in skill or ability for Swim Team. Practices are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.

Optional yoga class Thursdays, 4:30 — 5 p.m. for Level 2 Pre-Swim-Team and Stingrays Swim Team members.

 

Private & Small Group Swim Lessons
Private lessons, alone or coupled with our group classes, are a great way to accelerate learning.These lessons offer a comfortable setting, so those new to the water can excel. Through an initial skills test, we can assess your child’s ability and plan lessons around his or her specific needs. Lessons are 30 minutes and are sold in packages of 10 lessons and 5 lessons.
