Speak up for Israel
Not sure what to say if someone bashes Israel? Learn the facts, ask the hard questions and know your answers. Israel gets a bad rap, especially on college campuses. Join an elite group of high school juniors and seniors and learn from experts in the field - AIPAC, CAMERA, Israel Action Network and StandWithUs - how to respond and take action. Grade 6
Paint like masters with Paint, Draw & More! Students will gain experience with acrylic paints and learn brush techniques that allow children to express their creativity. NEW! Advanced Chess Club
Grades 6 – 8
Chess is a strategy game, and the more strategies you know and understand, the better your chances at outsmarting your opponent. When combined with good playing tactics, advanced chess strategies can help you gain an edge and win the game. We will try to improve the position of your pieces, create weaknesses or fix them, plan an attack (short or long term), or gain control of key squares. In this course we will be learning some more advanced strategies.

Pre-Season Basketball Clinics
Grades 6 – 8
Start the season early and get a head start on the competition by joining our pre-season basketball clinics. Players will work on fundamentals such as ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense, and more.

Stamford JCC Travel Basketball Team
Grades 6 – 8
Try out for one of our travel basketball teams and compete against other teams in the Fairfield County Basketball League! Teams will practice twice a week, with most games held on weekends. The FCBL season runs from November to March. We will be holding three tryouts. In order to be considered for a team, you must attend 2 out of the 3 tryouts. This class will make you stronger, faster, and more powerful, and make you feel better, by performing high-energy functional movements that are natural and safe.

Fitness Center Certification Course
This class is for all 13-year-olds who would like to use the JCC Fitness Center on their own. Etiquette, proper equipment usage, form, safety, and training guidelines will be covered. After completion of this class, teens will have unlimited access to the Fitness Center during non-peak hours. Performing Arts


Hip-Hop Grooves
Grade 6
Through age-appropriate popular music and dance moves, students will learn the basics of popping, locking, breaking and fusion styles. They will explore rhythm, syncopated movements, isolation and creative expression, as well as understanding the concept of performance. Students will learn set choreography and play games to fine-tune their improvisational skills.

Sing, Groove and Act!
Grade 6
Sing, Groove and Act is a wonderful class to use the energy of dance, music and action! Students will participate in fun movement games with basic dance technique, leading to music from their current favorite radio stations and movies that they will sing along to. Students are inspired and challenged to use their imagination through action!

Grade 6
In this class students will begin to develop dance technique through ballet, the foundation of all dance styles. Class consists of a center floor warm-up incorporating ballet positions, across the floor, and learning and executing basic choreography. Students learn direction changes, balance, footwork and the start of jumping and turning.

Jazz/Hip Hop Combo
Grade 6
Although predominately hip hop, this class also combines jazz, providing students with a solid foundation of dance terminology and movement. This class will focus on isolation, intricate footwork, directional movement, jumps, leaps, the basics of turning, and more challenging choreography.

Swim Assessment for New Swimmers 

For all children enrolling in a swim program for the first time, we strongly encourage you to bring your child for a free assessment. Swim Refund Policy
Due to high demand and limited spots for swim lessons, the JCC refund policy will be strictly enforced. Refunds, credits or make-up classes for unscheduled absences cannot be accommodated. For absences due to serious illness/injury (doctor’s note required) or absences known at least one week in advance, we will make every effort to schedule make-up classes. Placement in make-up classes is based on the schedule of comparable classes and their availability.

Swim Cap Policy

Everyone entering the pool must wear a swim cap. This rule applies to males & females of all ages who have hair, no matter how long.

Pre-Swim-Team Program


Level 2
6 – 16 years
Learn competition-style swimming to become faster and more efficient in your strokes and turns. Testing is required for children new to the program. Children who are enrolled two days a week may qualify for Sunday sessions at no extra charge.

Twice a week is MANDATORY. Based on your child’s ability he or she may be able to join the senior team and travel to swim competitions. A third practice for pre-team will be held on Sundays at 3 p.m. Please note: private lessons, a group class or Sunday practice can be used for a mandatory second practice..

JCC Stingrays Competitive Swim Team 
The JCC competes in the USA Swimming League. Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 6 p.m. and optional practice on Saturday at 7.45 a.m. Children must try out for the team, and must have the following prerequisites:

• Level 4 – Barracuda (stroke development)
• Pre-Swim Team Classes*

JCC Stingrays Junior Competitive Swim Team is for those swimmers who want to begin participating on a swim team, but are not quite ready in skill or ability for Swim Team. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.

Optional yoga class Thursdays, 4:40 — 5:10 p.m. for Level 2 Pre-Swim-Team and Stingrays Swim Team members.



Private & Small Group Swim Lessons
Private lessons, alone or coupled with our group classes, are a great way to accelerate learning. These lessons offer a comfortable setting, so those new to the water can excel. Through an initial skills test, we can assess your child’s ability and plan lessons around his or her specific needs. Lessons are 30 minutes and are sold in packages of 10 lessons and 5 lessons.
