
Will my child be outside all day?
Day Camps@The J primarily takes place outside on our expansive campus. On days where the weather is inclement, we utilize our fully air-conditioned indoor space. Throughout the grounds of the JCC we have tents for activities so that the campers can be out of direct sunlight.
Is there water available for campers?
Campers bring their own reusable water bottles and we provide water coolers throughout the campus for refilling water bottles throughout the day. The campers are regularly drinking water and refilling their water bottles to stay hydrated
What are typical group sizes and ratios?
K’tamim groups have a maximum of 8 campers with 2-3 counselors, Chaverim group size is a maximum of 15 campers with 2-3 counselors. For Traditional camp (Bonim, Tzofim and Na’aarim) which ranges from Kindergarten to Eighth grade, group size is a maximum of 20 campers with 2 – 3 counselors.
Does Day Camps@The J provide lunch, or do I need to bring my own?
Campers must bring their own lunch Monday – Thursday. Day Camps@The J provide 2 snacks per day and a Shabbat BBQ lunch on Fridays.
Who teaches the summer camp special activities?
All activities are led by highly-qualified specialists, many of whom are full-time, year-round Stamford JCC professionals. Staff and instructors consist of results-driven professional players and coaches, and The Vogel Family Center for Early Learning teachers.
What are the normal hours of camp and do you offer extended day options?
K’Tanim camp hours are 9 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. with extended hours from 12:45 – 3:30 p.m. Chaverim hours are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. with extended hours from 1 – 4 p.m. Traditional camp (Bonim – Na’arim), the hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with extended hours available from 7:30 – 9 a.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.
Will I be able to talk to my child’s counselors about the camp experience during the week?
Each camp group is assigned a Head Counselor who will be your main point of contact during the camp week. They will contact you before your child’s camp program starts and will provide you with their contact information.
Does my child have to attend the entire 8 weeks of camp?
Children can be registered for 2 – 8 weeks of camp based on your summer needs. Weeks do not need to be consecutive.
Is there any program offered between the end of camp and the beginning of school?
We offer a Post Week program for 1 week after the traditional 8 weeks of camp are finished.
What are camp electives?
Electives are a week long activity that your camper gets to decide. Choices are given a week in advance.
