A great introduction to ballet for a young dancer, this class focuses on learning the basic elements of creative movement while incorporating classical ballet shapes, vocabulary, and dance steps, and expanding the potential of each child’s gross motor skills. The children will get an introduction to ballet terminology, all the while exploring their physical creativity through creative imagery, sing-along songs and classical music, dance props, and short choreographic combinations. Other skills practiced in this class: identifying body parts, musicality, level changes, balancing and movement coordination, shape formation, pathways, leading and following, and creative expression (This is a parent-transitional class. Music
Discover the joy of music! Our children’s music classes invite young musicians to explore rhythm, melody, and song through engaging, age-appropriate activities that build confidence and foundational skills. Students develop listening skills, musical literacy, coordination, and creativity in a fun, supportive environment that encourages self-expression and a love of music.
In addition to our group classes, we proudly offer private lessons for children, teens, and adults. Our experienced instructors provide individualized instruction in a range of instruments and voice, tailoring each lesson to the students’ goals, pace, and interests while fostering strong technique and musical artistry. Please reach out to performingarts@stamfordjcc.org for private lesson inquiries.
