Speak up for Israel
Not sure what to say if someone bashes Israel? Learn the facts, ask the hard questions and know your answers. Israel gets a bad rap, especially on college campuses. Join an elite group of high school juniors and seniors and learn from experts in the field - AIPAC, CAMERA, Israel Action Network and StandWithUs - how to respond and take action. Family Yoga
Grade 6 (with parents) This fun and interactive yoga class is designed for children and their parents. All ability levels welcome. There will be music, singing and yoga games, all designed to teach yoga to the whole family!

Drawing and Mixed Media
Grade 6
Young artists will love this class of drawing and media exploration. We will teach students techniques for using pastels, pencils, markers, oil pastels, etc. Each medium creates a different style of drawing. This class will cover light and shadow, line quality, blending and more. Students will bring home realistic and abstract drawings.

Cartoon Plush Dolls
Grade 6
In this class, young artists will develop a cartoon character, create its comic book story and make their own collectible plush doll. During the program students will be designing, drawing, mask making and sewing. The projects will be both 2D and 3D. This class has been selling out and we are happy to offer our own weekly Comic Con at the Stamford JCC.

Fitness Center Certification Course
This class is for all 13-year-olds who would like to use the JCC Fitness Center on their own. Etiquette, proper equipment usage, form, safety, and training guidelines will be covered. After completion of this class, teens will have unlimited access to the Fitness Center during non-peak hours. NEW! Jazz Funk
Grade 6
Introducing the fun, upbeat, fierce style of Jazz Funk! If your child can’t resist bursting out into dance when they hear music and is a natural STAR, this class is for them! This performance-based dance style takes elements of Jazz and Hip-Hop while incorporating staging, transitions, levels, and dynamics. Students will work on improvisational skills and learn dance combinations choreographed to the latest pop hits! At the end of clas s, students will be challenged to enact the choreography while focusing on their execution and overall performance.

Grab your tap shoes and join us for our first-ever Tap class! This introductory-level class teaches students all of the basic steps of tap. Students will gain an understanding of rhythm, tempo and musicality, while also enhancing their coordination and body-awareness. Tap shoes are required!

NEW! Acro/Tumbling
Grade 6
Calling all kids who love to jump, leap, and tumble! Acro/Tumbling is a beginner-level class where students will learn safely the proper techniques of basic acro and tumbling! We begin each class with stretching and conditioning exercises to warm up and strengthen our muscles. For the remainder of class, students will use the balance beam, spring board, wedge mat, and other gymnastics equipment to help them acquire the technique and muscle memory needed for all skills and tricks! Students will increase flexibility, balance, strength, technique, and body awareness through the fundamentals of acrobatics.

Grade 6
Through age-appropriate tunes and basic urban movement, students will learn the foundational urban dance styles that make up Hip-Hop and Street Dance. They will explore elements of grooving, popping, waving, and breaking, while gaining an understanding of rhythm, musicality, and creative expression. Students will play games and practice exercises that will fine-tune their improvisational skills, and learn choreography and performance staging to apply all of the knowledge they acquire throughout the semester.

Swim Assessment for New Swimmers 

For all children enrolling in a swim program for the first time, we strongly encourage you to bring your child for a free assessment. Our instructors will be able to advise you on the best class for your child based on his or her age and ability. Swim Refund Policy
Due to high demand and limited spots for swim lessons, the JCC refund policy will be strictly enforced. Refunds, credits or make-up classes for unscheduled absences cannot be accommodated. For absences due to serious illness/injury (doctor’s note required) or absences known at least one week in advance, we will make every effort to schedule make-up classes. Placement in make-up classes is based on the schedule of comparable classes and their availability.

Swim Cap Policy

Everyone entering the pool must wear a swim cap. This rule applies to males & females of all ages who have hair, no matter how long.

Pre-Swim-Team Program 
11 – 16 years
Two days per week is mandatory. Prices listed for two days per week include a discount.

Children enrolled two days a week are eligible for a 3rd practice, free of charge. Based on your child’s ability, he or she may be able to join the senior team and travel to swim competitions.

Level 2
11 – 16 years
Learn competition-style swimming to become faster and more efficient in your strokes and turns. Testing is required for children new to the program. Children who are enrolled two days a week may qualify for Sunday sessions at no extra charge.

Twice a week is MANDATORY. Based on your child’s ability he or she may be able to join the senior team and travel to swim competitions. A third practice for pre-team will be held on Sundays at 3 p.m. Please note: private lessons, group class or Sunday practice can be used for a mandatory second practice.

NEW! Lifeguard Training Class
Ages 15+
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical

JCC Stingrays Competitive Swim Team 
The JCC competes in the USA Swimming League. Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 6 p.m. and optional practice on Saturday at 7.45 a.m. Children must try out for the team, and must have the following prerequisites:

• Level 4 – Barracuda (stroke development)
• Pre-Swim Team Classes*

JCC Stingrays Junior Competitive Swim Team is for those swimmers who want to begin participating on a swim team, but are not quite ready in skill or ability for Swim Team. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:15 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.



Private & Small Group Swim Lessons
Private lessons, alone or coupled with our group classes, are a great way to accelerate learning. These lessons offer a comfortable setting, so those new to the water can excel. Through an initial skills test, we can assess your child’s ability and plan lessons around his or her specific needs. Lessons are 30 minutes and are sold in packages of 10 lessons and 5 lessons.
