Ballet
Grades K – 2
As a classical and formal dance discipline, ballet focuses on developing strength, flexibility, precision, and grace in your young dancer. In a fun and supportive atmosphere, the teacher will lead students through a traditional ballet class structure. Class consists of a warm-up -- which incorporates the fundamental ballet stretches and poses – center work, across the floor exercises, leaps and turns, and learning and executing choreographed combinations.

Hip-Hop
Grades K – 2
Through age-appropriate tunes and basic urban movement, students will learn the foundational urban dance styles that make up hip-hop and street dance. They will explore elements of grooving, popping, waving, and breaking, while gaining an understanding of rhythm, musicality, and creative expression. Students will play games and practice exercises that will fine-tune their improvisational skills, and learn choreography and performance staging to apply all of the knowledge they acquire throughout the semester.

Acrobatics & Gymnastics
Grades K – 2
Calling all kids who love to jump, leap, and tumble! This is an introductory-level class where students will safely learn the proper techniques of basic acrobatics and tumbling! We begin each class with stretching and conditioning exercises to warm up and strengthen our muscles. For the remainder of class, students will use the balance beam, spring board, wedge mat, and other gymnastics equipment to help them acquire the technique and muscle memory required for all skills and tricks! Students will increase flexibility, balance, strength, technique and body awareness through the fundamentals of acrobatics.

Tap & Jazz
Grades K – 2
Two dance techniques will be taught in this exciting combo dance class! Through the rhythmical patterns of Tap dance and the high-energy performance of jazz dance, your child will learn the two most popular dance styles of the musical theater world. Tap trains the brain to learn intricate foot patterns and puts an emphasis on musicality and rhythm. Jazz dance demonstrates long lines of the body, traveling leaps and turns, and body isolations, all while teaching students expressive performance. Teachers will instruct dancers on both disciplines and create dances that incorporate the best of both worlds! (Tap shoes are required.)

Kids Drama I

For your budding actor or actress, we are now offering drama classes!  Students will start their lesson with vocal and body warmups. To focus their natural instincts and abilities to act and play, students will do exercises such as role playing, word games, mime, and improvisation.

Kids Drama II
Grades 3 – 5
For your budding actor or actress, we are now offering drama classes!   Students will start their lesson with vocal and body warmups. To focus their natural instincts and abilities to act and play, students will do exercises such as role playing, word games, mime, and improvisation. At this age group students also will learn scene study, monologues, and memorization.

Youth Drama
Middle School & High School
In Youth Drama students will develop skills in cooperative acting as they work as a theatrical ensemble. In a fun and supportive environment, students will build confidence and self-esteem as they create bonds of trust and camaraderie with their acting peers. Classes will start with a vocal and physical warm-up followed by theatrical games and exercises designed to develop skill and encourage teamwork, culminating in a group scene study.

Adaptive Movement and Dance
High School and Young Adult
This adaptive dance program offers an inclusive and comfortable environment for your child to enjoy the art of dance through movement. This class will inspire each dancer to create their own choreography and explore movement using different parts of their bodies. They will be encouraged and led by the dance instructor, Meghan Meehan, our Director of Performing Arts. Through the movements and dances, the students will gain strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

Studio Dance Classes
Studio classes are the perfect choice for our dedicated students who want to fine tune their dance craft, developing and improving upon their dance training from year to year. Studio Classes are labeled as: [Dance Style] [Class Level] (i.e. “Hip Hop II”).  Level placement is determined by both the child’s age and experience. Level advancement is by teacher recommendation.

Studio Classes will end with a recital to showcase the routines learned throughout the year. Students in the Studio Classes will be guaranteed at least 2 routines in the recital for each class they sign up for. Additionally, Studio dancers will be offered exclusive discounts on dance workshops/events and recital costumes, among other benefits.

 

Hip-Hop I
6 – 9 years
Students will express themselves creatively through the basic moves and grooves of hip-hop dance! As they dance along to the latest age-appropriate tunes, students will learn elements of grooving, popping and waving, while also gaining an understanding of rhythm and musicality. Through fun games and creative exercises, students will fine-tune their improvisational skills and imaginatively explore new approaches to movement-based expression.

Hip-Hop II
10+ years
Continuing to hone their craft with Ms. Lizzie, dancers in Hip-Hop II will build upon the skills learned in previous levels. As they dance along to the latest age-appropriate tunes, students will learn increasingly more difficult choreographic steps and sequences, incorporating elements of grooving, breaking, popping, and waving. Students will fine-tune their improvisational skills and imaginatively explore new approaches to movement-based expression, while also gaining an understanding of rhythm and musicality.

Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. (Class meets twice a week)
