Love to perform? Are you ready to embark on an extraordinary journey through the captivating world of dance? Look no further than Jr Company, the premier dance repertory company designed exclusively for children. Our carefully curated repertoire is designed to engage young dancers in a diverse range of styles, from classical ballet and contemporary to jazz and more. Through expert guidance and personalized attention, we empower our students to develop strong technique, master challenging choreography, and push the boundaries of their artistic potential all the while nurturing each dancer’s strengths and fostering a supportive environment for growth and teamwork. 

Students enrolled in Jr Company will attend their weekly Jr Company class on Mondays each week, as well as one additional technique class per week of their choice (included in Jr Company Tuition), either in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, or Ballet dance. In addition to the technique class and their Company class, the dancers will also meet for an average additional 1-2 hours of rehearsals per week to learn solos and duets for our upcoming performances, getting personal coaching from our experienced dance staff.

Throughout the year, Jr. Company dancers will have multiple opportunities to showcase their growth and talent beyond the studio. Jr Company performance opportunities include featured roles in our winter production, our dedicated spring Jr Company Showcase, performing in our Spring Recital, and various community events throughout the year. These experiences allow our young artists to gain valuable stage experience, build confidence, and share their passion for dance with a wider audience. Jr Company tuition also includes an annual group outing to see a professional show, deepening their exploration of and connection to the arts.

This Hip-Hop class is designed for children heading to kindergarten or who are currently enrolled in kindergarten. It should be their progression from Pre-school Hip-hop to Hip-Hop Intro. As opposed to Pre-school Hip-hop where they were engaged with rhythm and learning coordination, in this class they will learn how to put it all together in a clear movement-based class.

Two dance techniques will be taught in this exciting combo dance class! Through the rhythmic patterns of tap dance and the high-energy performance of jazz dance, your child will learn the two most popular dance styles of the musical theater world. Tap trains the brain and body to learn intricate foot patterns and puts an emphasis on musicality and rhythm. Jazz dance demonstrates long lines of the body, traveling leaps and turns, and body isolation, all while teaching students’ expressive performance. Teachers will instruct dancers in both disciplines and create dances that incorporate the best of both worlds! (Tap shoes are required. Contemporary Advanced is designed for high school students who are dedicated to improving their dance technique. This course will build on the technical exercises learned and challenge students with more dynamic choreography. By introducing students to the history of ballet and modern dance, we will begin to integrate theoretical knowledge with the embodied knowledge we learn through our movement. This course will also place more of an emphasis on student creativity, building a laboratory where students will work through improvisation and student choreography exercises in a safe and constructive environment. As a classical and formal dance discipline, ballet focuses on developing strength, flexibility, precision, and grace in your young dancer. In a fun and supportive atmosphere, the teacher will lead students through a traditional ballet class structure. A great introduction to ballet for a young dancer, this class focuses on learning the basic elements of creative movement while incorporating classical ballet shapes, vocabulary, and dance steps, and expanding the potential of each child’s gross motor skills.  The children will get an introduction to ballet terminology, all the while exploring their physical creativity through creative imagery, sing-along songs and classical music, dance props, and short choreographic combinations. Other skills practiced in this class: identifying body parts, musicality, level changes, balancing and movement coordination, shape formation, pathways, leading and following, and creative expression (This is a parent-transitional class. Parents and Guardians are welcome to participate in these classes, and our goal by the end of the school year will be to have all students adjusted to a drop-off activity.)

In Ballet 2, students begin structured practice at the barre, helping to develop their strength and control. Emphasis will be put on proper placement of the legs, feet, and arms, and the practice of “spotting” for turns. Designed for dancers with previous pointe experience, this class focuses on strengthening technique, control, and artistry en pointe. Dancers continue refining alignment, placement, and transitions while progressing through barre work and beginning center exercises. Emphasis is placed on building endurance, confidence, and technical precision while preparing students for more advanced pointe work.

A great introduction to ballet for a young dancer, this class focuses on learning the basic elements of creative movement while incorporating classical ballet shapes, vocabulary, and dance steps, and expanding the potential of each child’s gross motor skills.  The children will get an introduction to ballet terminology, all the while exploring their physical creativity through creative imagery, sing-along songs and classical music, dance props, and short choreographic combinations. Other skills practiced in this class: identifying body parts, musicality, level changes, balancing and movement coordination, shape formation, pathways, leading and following, and creative expression (This is a parent-transitional class. Parents and Guardians are welcome to participate in these classes, and our goal by the end of the school year will be to have all students adjusted to a drop-off activity.)
