The Legacy Society of the Stamford JCC

Generations to come can benefit from the JCC’s programming, services, and sense of community, which you can help ensure with your legacy gift.

Why give a legacy gift?

You can be part of the group who will ensure a strong Stamford JCC for generations to come.  The JCC is where our children grew up, made their first friends, and were given the foundation to become the next generation of leaders. It is where we built life-long relationships. It is where those who enter our doors feel connected and a sense of belonging, regardless of Jewish affiliation, ethnicity, religion, race or background.  Your commitment to make a future gift of your estate will ensure that the JCC is here for all our families and their children for many years to come.  Each of us, regardless of wealth, has the capacity to leave a meaningful Jewish legacy.

How to Make a Legacy Gift

A commitment does not need to impact your current finances and can be funded from your estate. A commitment can be as small as $1,000 or as large as you wish.

What are the simplest ways to make a legacy gift?

  • Designate the Stamford JCC as a beneficiary of all or part of your IRA or 401k. This is the most tax efficient way to make a legacy gift.
  • Designate the Stamford JCC as a beneficiary of all or part of your life insurance policy.
  • Both of these types of legacy gifts can be made easily without the need for an attorney.

Can legacy gifts be made under a will or similar document?

  • You can make legacy gifts under your Will, which is very straightforward.
  • You can create a charitable trust, which benefits not only the JCC but also other beneficiaries.
  • An attorney would be needed to draft these documents.

Can I donate now and save taxes?

  • Yes! If you are over the age of 72, you can direct that your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA be sent directly to the Stamford JCC. This is a great way to enjoy income tax savings while also supporting The J’s critical work.

We have given legacy gifts because we want our children to know that Tikkun Olam and giving to others are core values which should continue even after we are no longer here to give ourselves.
